PCL Construction Services Orlando
PCL Construction Services Inc. provides on-site flu shots for all employees.
Orlando Business Journal has named PCL Construction Services as the healthiest employer in Central Florida among giant organizations with 1, 500-4, 999 employees.
PCL’s wellness philosophy is to help balance one’s self, home, work and community. The company’s Key to Wellness program includes aspects of physical, emotional, mental and even financial health.
“We want to make sure we offer opportunities for employees to stay on top of their health needs, ” said Amanda Melton, wellness leader and manager of human resources and professional development. The hardest part of the program is staying up to speed with latest health trends and information.
To combat that, the wellness program rotates its committee each year to supply fresh ideas on how to make wellness a priority.
PCL’s wellness program, which began in 2007, is enlisting in the use of an app to move its wellness program electronically for its employees to have constant access to a “fitness pal of sorts.”
In 2010, the program began allowing employees not only to be reimbursed for fitness classes and gym memberships, but also for weight-loss counseling, on-site therapeutic massages and smoking cessation tools.
Quinn Barnett, field engineer, “saw PCL’s program as a way to kick-start my own health and wellness goals.” The wellness reimbursement program made joining the right gym affordable, said Barnett. “Finally being able to join a gym that met my needs, instead of the cheapest one, I have been able to create a healthy routine I can actually stick to.”
Meanwhile, the firm’s expectations include healthier, happier employees and more wellness accountability, said Melton.

Constructive service is that time period between reenlistment and the end of the prior enlistment. This time (in days past) could be credited towards an individuals retirement date up to a maximum of 18 months over a career. This meant that one could enlist and serve 18.5 years and retire at 50% of base pay. (Having been credited with 20 years of active service)
